  • Yerevan residents protest against higher metro fare

    Today in the Armenian capital the initiative group "We are against increase of metro fare" held a protest rally in front of the Mayoralty. The group was formed within the social network Facebook just after the city authorities decided to increase the fare. More than 5000 persons became members of this group; about 30 of them took part in today's rally.

  • Ingushetia: Magas Mayor resignation is planned, source in Evkurov's administration says

    In the near future Aslanbek Sagov, Mayor of the city of Magas, the capital of Ingushetia, will resign from his position. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by a source in the administration of Yunus-Bek Evkurov, the head of Ingushetia, that the resignation has to do with the outcomes of the revision of construction of cottages in Magas. Aslanbek Sagov himself said that he had decided to resign on his own will after Evkurov's criticism of the activity of the Mayoralty of Magas.

    The State Museum of GULAG History, located in Petrovka Street in Moscow, has hosted the presentation of the French version of the book, written by Sozryko Malsagova (1895-1976), a native of Ingushetia and an officer of the Russian Tsarist Army, and entitled "The Hell Island". The book was released in April this year in Paris by the publisher Francois Bourin Editeur. The book tells about the Soviet concentration camp, known as SLON (Special-Purpose Solovki Camp).

  • Alleged militants liquidated today in Dagestan identified

    The names of the members of the armed underground, who were killed today in a special operation in Kizilyurt, have become known. They are Arthur Dalgatov, born in 1985, and his common-law wife Aminat Darbisheva, born in 1990, said the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan.
