Leaders of "Georgian Party" accuse Georgian law enforcement bodies of torture
Attempts to put pressure on activists from the oppositional "Georgian Party" to obtain certain testimonies began after detention and continue now, said Erosi Kitsmarishvili, the political secretary of the "Georgian Party" in an interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
On June 23, eight persons accused of creating an organized criminal grouping and who hade been associated with the "Georgian Party", were detained. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Georgia disseminated video with testimonies of several detainees in this case and audio recordings of telephone conversations of Irakli Okruashvili with the detainees.
According to Erosi Kitsmarishvili, the detainees gave their testimonies "not under pressure, but under torture. A detainee, shot half-faced in the video, just got his teeth knocked out. Not to show that, they shot him from aside".
According to the politician, "a child in this country can understand that this is an ordered process directed against the "Georgian Party" and against Irakli Okruashvili in particular".
The Georgian authorities reject allegations of the ordered nature of the process and claim that the point is in criminal activities of the Okruashvili's supporters.
