Defence sums up trial in journalist Nozdrinov’s case

A court has limited the defence of journalist Alexander Nozdrinov during the trial in his case, and his advocate will not be able to attend at the next court hearing due to the judge’s complaint.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Alexander Nozdrinov, a journalist from the Krasnodar Territory, was charged in a criminal case for disseminating fake news about the Russian Armed Forces. Relatives of the journalist associated the persecution with his civic position and declared the court to be biased. On September 15, a public prosecutor requested the court to sentence Alexander Nozdrinov to nine years of imprisonment. In his final speech, the journalist denied the accusations and called the case fabricated.

Alexander Nozdrinov has himself emphasized in his final speech that he considers the persecution to be the result of his activities in the fight against crimes.

Advocate Natalia Volivach has confirmed that the court repeatedly violated Alexander Nozdrinov’s right to defence, refusing all the requests filed by advocates. “The defenders were refused even to examine some documents contained in the Alexander Nozdrinov’s case,” emphasized the advocate.
