Woman from Stavropol Territory sentenced to imprisonment in penal colony in case on fakes about Russian Army

In the Stavropol Territory, a court sentenced local resident Anna Vorobyova to six years of imprisonment in a penal colony, recognizing her entries posted on a social networking service as dissemination of false information about the actions of the Russian Armed Forces.

Anna Vorobyova was held in custody in a SIZO (pre-trial prison) even before the verdict, the “OVD-Info”* human rights project reports. According to the public prosecutors’ version, during the period from February 24, 2022 to April 2023, Anna Vorobyova posted entries on her page in the “VKontakte” social networking service about strikes on Ukraine, “calling the actions allegedly committed by the Russian Armed Forces war crimes.”

The investigators and the court saw in Anna Vorobyova’s actions the motive of “political, ideological, and national hatred and enmity.”
