Advocate of Kuban blogger Alexander Nozdrinov claims being under pressure

A public prosecutor announced that the materials concerning advocates of blogger Alexander Nozdrinov, who was accused of spreading fakes about the Russian Armed Forces, would be transferred to the Chamber of Advocates to take action against the defenders. Moreover, one of the advocates was removed from the trial at the insistence of the prosecutor’s office.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in March 2022, a search was carried out at home of Alexander Nozdrinov, a presenter of the “SANYA Novokubansk” YouTube channel. Law enforcers suspected Alexander Nozdrinov of spreading fakes about the Russian Armed Forces. The man was beaten during the detention. A friend and a wife of Alexander Nozdrinov believe his persecution is connected with his civic position.

According to an official of the prosecutor’s office, the materials on the actions of the defenders in the trial on the blogger Alexander Nozdrinov’s case would be sent to the Chamber of Advocates for an investigation, the “Kavkaz.Realii”* reported with reference to Olesya Panyuzheva, a defender of Alexander Nozdrinov. The advocate treated the announcement of the prosecutor’s office as pressure and threats.

According to the “Voice of Kuban”, a criminal case was instituted based on a post in a Telegram channel with a photo of a destroyed house in Kyiv criticizing the actions of the Russian Armed Forces.

On May 31, the project “Support for Political Prisoners. Memorial” recognized Alexander Nozdrinov as a political prisoner. The human rights defenders believe that one of the motives for the persecution of Alexander Nozdrinov “was the desire of the Krasnodar law enforcement bodies to put an end to the blogger’s investigations into their abuses and to avenge his criticism.”

Let us remind you that in January, the Chamber of Advocates of the Krasnodar Territory instituted disciplinary proceedings against advocate Mikhail Benyash** at the request of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), which claimed that Mikhail Benyash** posted “incorrect statements” about the authorities in his Telegram channel, which was incompatible with the status of an advocate.
