• In Kabardino-Balkaria, sons of Shevkhuzhev, killed in special operation, detained

  On June 18, in Dugulubgei village of Kabardino-Balkaria, minor sons were detained of Sultan Shevkhuzhev, 40, a resident of Dugulubgei, who was killed in a special operation on May 28 in Mechnikova Street in Nalchik. • European Court obliges Russia to pay 35,000 euros to Chechen woman

  On June 18 in Strasbourg, a decision of the European Court on Human Rights (ECtHR) on case No. 2393/05 "Magomadova versus Russia" was announced. The court obliged the Russian Federation to pay 35,000 euros of compensation to the resident of Chechnya.

• In Azerbaijan, police stops picket of opponents to amendments in the law on NGOs

  Over 100 activists of the civil society of Azerbaijan have rallied together today at midday for holding an action near the parliament against the would-be amendments to the Law "On Nongovernmental Organizations (NGOs)"; however, they were stopped by the police some 300 meters off the building of the National Assembly. Nobody was detained.

• Some 240 supporters of "Chernovik" are now at the building of Supreme Court of Dagestan

  Today, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Dagestan has held a trial on the claim lodged by "Rossvyazkonnadzor" (Russian federal agency for supervising communications) for Dagestan demanding to stop the newspaper named "Chernovik" (Blueprint). The employees of "Rossvyazkonnadzor" have stated, when asked by the court to present proofs in support of their claims, that they were not ready and asked to postpone the trial. More than 240 supporters of journalists have gathered at the court building.
