Ingushetia: "Mashr" activists complain of persecutions

Members of the Ingush human rights Autonomous Non-Commercial Organization (ANCO) "Mashr" told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent about illegal actions of power agents against them. They explain the pressure by their applications to the European Court on Human Rights (ECtHR).

Thus, Murad Yandiev said that July 2 and 7 employees of unidentified power agencies twice searched his house without presenting any IDs or search warrants. No search protocol was drawn up. Earlier, on December 16, 2008, Yandievs' house was also searched without any sanction.

Mohammed Yandiev, Murad's father, is an applicant to the ECtHR on kidnapping on March 16, 2004, of Murad's brother Timur Yandiev. Murad is inclined to think that the illegal actions of power agents can be linked with their case in the European Court.

Zurab Tsechoev, another "Mashr" member, is surprised and indignant with the fact that, according to law enforcers, he was put on "the list of unreliable residents of the republic".

"On the day of the attempt on President Yunus-Bek Evkurov I was visited by a dozen of militiamen. As far as I understood, they checked my possible involvement in blowing Evkurov up. Officially, it was a check of documents," Mr Tsechoev said.

Zurab is also an applicant to the ECtHR on the fact of kidnapping of his brother Tamerlan by armed people in March 2004 in the Malgobek District of the republic.
