Kuban activist Marina Melikhova accused of discrediting Russian Army

The police drew up a report against Kuban activist Marina Melikhova under the administrative article about discrediting the Russian Armed Forces, her advocate said.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in December 2023, a court in Adler sentenced Marina Melikhova to one and a half years of imprisonment, finding her guilty in a criminal case on discrediting the Russian Army.

Marina Melikhova is being kept at a SIZO (pre-trial prison) in Armavir, awaiting consideration of the appeal, her advocate Maria Spasibukhova reported on February 5. The advocate noted that the activist’s release date depended on the date on which consideration of the appeal was appointed.

On April 3, the police drew up a report against Marina Melikhova under the administrative article about discrediting the Russian Army. The reason was a video in which Marina Melikhova said: “I has been a pacifist, and I will be a pacifist,” the “OVD-Info”* human rights project reports on its Telegram channel.

Let us remember that earlier, Marina Melikhova was convicted of public calls for extremist activities and served more than two years in prison. After her release in the summer of 2022, the activist complained about violence and violations of rights in prison.
