Rally in memory of victims of deportation held in Grozny without Kadyrov’s participation

In Grozny, Chechen officials and MPs held a rally in memory of the victims of the Stalin’s repressions. The event took place without the participation of Ramzan Kadyrov, who limited himself to a post in the Telegram channel on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the deportation of the Vainakh people.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the day of February 23 marked the 80th anniversary of the Stalin’s deportation of the Chechens and Ingush. In Nazran, hundreds of people came to a mourning meeting, including elders and activists from public organizations.

In Grozny, a rally in memory of the victims of the Stalin’s repressions was held at the Memorial to those killed in the fight against international terrorism. The rally was attended by Magomed Daudov, the speaker of the Chechen parliament, law enforcers, and public figures, the “Grozny-Inform” news agency reports.

In his speech, Djambulat Umarov, the President of the Chechen Academy of Sciences, stated that “the Chechen people were blatantly defamed, when accused of collaborating with the fascists.” Finally, those who gathered for the morning meeting gathered read a prayer.

A reader of the “Caucasian Knot”, nicknamed camilla, noticed that Ramzan Kadyrov did not take part in the mourning meeting. “An appeal on his behalf was read out by Magomed Daudov, the speaker of the Chechen parliament,” camilla wrote.

On February 23, residents of the village of Chechen-Aul decided to open the gates in all their yards as a sign of memory and grief for the victims of the deportation.

Let us remind you that in 2023, no official events were held in Chechnya to mark the 79th anniversary of the deportation of the Vainakh people. Ramzan Kadyrov limited himself to voicing curses against Joseph Stalin.
