At deportation anniversary, Kadyrov limited himself to cursing Stalin

In Chechnya, the absence of mourning events in memory of deportation victims indicates Kadyrov's desire not to aggravate the situation on the eve of the anniversary of the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine, analysts believe. Traditional curses against Stalin entail no political risks for Kadyrov, since the cult of the former Soviet leader has not been formalized by the Kremlin.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that there were no official events in Chechnya on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the Vainakhs' deportation.

In his Telegram channel, the head of Chechnya has recalled the deportation anniversary, which he called "an outrageous crime." "On the orders of the damned Stalin, our people were subjected to a horrific genocide – mass deportation to Siberia and Kazakhstan. The reason was the unjustified accusation of collaboration with Nazi occupiers. It was only a cover for executing entire nations," Ramzan Kadyrov has written.

The absence of commemoration events is a Chechen authorities' initiative in order to show maximum loyalty to the Kremlin, said Svetlana Gannushkina*, the chair of the "Civic Assistance" Committee*.

Andrei Serenko, a political analyst, has pointed out that, in general, a negative attitude towards Stalin is characteristic of all repressed nations.

Mourning events are allowed in Ingushetia, because there was no problem of separatism in the republic like in Chechnya, Ruslan Kutaev, the president of the Assembly of Caucasian Nations, believes.
