Shootout in Ingushetia with law enforcers becomes second armed incident within 20 days

An armed incident in the Sunzha District was preceded by a shelling attack on a police service car not far from the village of Yandare on December 5.

Today, in the Sunzha District, two men have shelled a car. When their car was stopped by police, they opened fire on policemen. Both men have been detained, one of them is wounded.

According to the “Caucasian Knot” information, the shootout has become the second armed incident in Ingushetia over the past 20 days after the shelling attack on a police service car near the village of Yandare on December 5.

Earlier, on November 22, in Sunzha, law enforcers shot dead an alleged accomplice of “members of a bandit grouping.” A man named Ganiev opened fire on law enforcers when they tried to detain him and was killed by return fire. One of the security forces was wounded. Sources reported that the killed man was suspected of aiding and abetting Amirkhan Gurazhev and Adam Ozdoev, put on the wanted list after armed incidents in March and April.

On April 5, during a counter-terrorist operation (CTO) conducted in Zyazikov-Yurt, law enforcers discovered a group of suspected militants and tried to detain them, but were shelled. Three policemen were killed, and eight others were wounded.

The losses of the police during the shootout in Zyazikov-Yurt became the largest number of casualties per day among law enforcers in Ingushetia since August 2012.
