Veterans of power bodies comment on armed incident in Ingushetia

The circumstances of the detention of an alleged militant accomplice in Sunzha and the wounding of a law enforcer in the onset shootout raise questions about the training level of Ingush law enforcers, veterans of law enforcement bodies have stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Ganiev, who was shot dead by law enforcers in Sunzha, was suspected of aiding Amirkhan Gurazhev and Adam Ozdoev, who are wanted after the armed incidents in March and April this year. The FSB has confirmed that the 33-year-old resident of Ingushetia was killed in the shootout, and one of the law enforcers was wounded.

The Ingush law enforcers could have been careless given the fact that they were detaining their fellow countryman, Amir Kolov, a retired Colonel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), has suggested.

Sergey Goncharov, the President of the Association of Veterans of the "Alpha" Antiterrorism Unit, has noted that in order to assess law enforcers' professional skills, a detailed analysis of their actions is needed.

Earlier, in March and April, Ingush law enforcers twice missed the alleged participants in the attack on the traffic police post; this indicates their unpreparedness and miscalculations amid a decline in underground activeness in Ingushetia, Amir Kolov and Sergey Goncharov then pointed out.

Mr Goncharov doubts that law enforcers were preparing for detention and did not allow for the possibility of a shootout.

Magomed Shamilov, a former employee of the Dagestani MIA, has pointed out the general trend of a decline in law enforcers' professional level. According to his version, militants' accomplices, as a rule, are armed and pose a danger; therefore, one must be prepared for a shootout and act differently to avoid law enforcers' wounding.

Let us remind you that the shootout with law enforcers in Sunzha was the first in seven months after a similar incident in the village of Zyazikov-Yurt.
