Case against policeman accused in Dalgatov’s death sent to prosecutor’s office

The investigation into a case against one of the Makhachkala policemen accused of the detained Kurban Dalgatov’s death has been completed. The case materials have been transferred to the prosecutor’s office for approval of the indictment.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that thirteen policemen have been charged in the case on Kurban Dalgatov’s death. The policemen are charged with abuse of power, which resulted in grave consequences, and torture, which through negligence resulted in the death of the victim. In April, a lawyer representing the interests of the victim’s family and a mother of deceased Kurban Dalgatov claimed that none of the accused policemen pleaded guilty and that the defendants were all trying to evade responsibility.

According to the investigators’ version, on January 21, 2023, the accused policeman, “by prior agreement” with other employees of the criminal investigation department, “used torture against the citizen brought to the police department, causing him bodily injuries, which caused the detainee’s death through negligence as a result of strangulation.”

Let us remind you that on January 15, the Sovetsky District Court of Makhachkala placed under house arrest two policemen – Muslim Kerimov and Magomedshapi Magomedshapiev – detained in the case on the Kurban Dalgatov’s death. When choosing a pre-trial restriction measure, a court took into account that one of the accused policemen had his parents with disabilities as dependents and that the other defendant took part in the special military operation (SMO).
