Investigators report 13 defendants in case on Dalgatov’s death

The Makhachkala police department is engaged in finalizing the charges to be brought against thirteen detainees in a criminal case on the death of Kurban Dalgatov. The prosecutor’s office plans to request court to sentence the defendants to imprisonment in a penal colony, the Deputy Prosecutor of Dagestan announces.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on January 12, it became known that two policemen were detained in the criminal case on Kurban Dalgatov’s death for not stopping the illegal actions of their colleagues.

Kurban Dalgatov died on January 20, 2023 after he was taken to the Makhachkala police department. Relatives claimed that the man died from “electric shocks to his heart.”

Sergey Melikov, the leader of Dagestan, has assured Raisat Dalgatova, a mother of Kurban Dalgatov, that the republic’s authorities are interested “in the unbiased nature and fairness of the punishment of the guilty persons.”

A pre-trial restriction measure was pronounced against ten policemen, and in total, thirteen people are involved in the criminal case as suspects, reports Alexander Suprun, the acting chief of the Investigating Department for Dagestan of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

No guilty person will get off with a suspended sentence, promises Sergey Kuznetsov, the Deputy Prosecutor of Dagestan.
