Makhachkala resident dies after being detained by police

Kurban Dalgatov, a resident of Makhachkala detained by the police, died after being tortured, relatives of the deceased man suspected. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan reported about the conducted check and confirmed that the man had been injured before his death.

According to the Dagestani weekly newspaper “Chernovik” (Rough Draft), relatives of Kurban Dalgatov suggest that the man died of asphyxiation after he was “shocked with electric current in the region of his heart.”

The police report that on January 20, there was a conflict between two men, and one of them used a gun, shooting at his opponent. The victim was taken to a hospital, and the shooter escaped with the help of a 35-year-old man who was later detained.

“In the course of the investigation, the condition of the resident worsened, and he was provided with first aid ... Despite the measures taken, medical officers confirmed that the man died. Later, it was found that the deceased person had been injured, which might cause his death,” the MIA of Dagestan reported.
