Rights defenders recognize Irina Skorovarova as political prisoner

For her pacifist position, Irina Skorovarova, a resident of the city of Taganrog, is accused of discrediting the Russian Army, the human rights project "Support for Political Prisoners. Memorial" has informed demanding to stop her criminal case.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 21, an advocate stated that Skorovarova had been charged with discrediting the Russian Army (envisages up to five years of freedom deprivation).

On January 11, law enforcers came to Skorovarova intending to conduct a search within a criminal case about discrediting the Russian Army. The Taganrog City Court sent her under house arrest for two months. The reason for the persecution was in the video about a Russian military man posted in Skorovarova's page in the "Odnoklassniki" social network.

The fact that Skorovarova has again posted a pacifist post after being brought to administrative responsibility suggests that her "position is consistent and she continues adhering thereto even in conditions of obvious risk, which was realized in this criminal case," says the Telegram channel of the project "Support for political prisoners. Memorial".

On January 15, the advocate reported that the defence had appealed against the court's decision to place Skorovarova under house arrest. Under house arrest, she is deprived of the opportunity to buy foodstuffs for her 12-year-old daughter and medicines for her elderly grandmother.
