Criminal case for discrediting militaries initiated against woman from Taganrog

Law enforcers came to Irina Skorovarova, a resident of Taganrog, to conduct a search and reported that a criminal case had been opened against her for discrediting the Russian Army.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in March 2023, Irina Skorovarova was fined under an administrative article on discrediting the Russian Army for her pacifist post placed in the Odnoklassniki social network. She claimed that she did not discredit the Army, but she was fined.

An FSB officer called Skorovarova and said that he was standing at her door intending to conduct a search and then take her to the Investigating Committee. Irina stated that she was not at home and would arrive in a couple of hours. The law enforcer replied that if she did not appear within a certain time, he would break down the door, the human rights project "OVD-Info"* has reported.

On January 11, an FSB officer wrote to her in social networks asking her to come and give an explanation.

On December 7, 2023, the Taganrog City Court fined Skorovarova by 10,000 roubles under the article of inciting hatred or enmity due to her posts in social networks about policemen; the court saw in the posts "statements aimed at humiliating the dignity of a social group."
