Irina Skorovarova accused in criminal case on discrediting Russian Army

Investigators filed a criminal charge on discrediting the Russian Armed Forces against Irina Skorovarova, a resident of Taganrog. That was reported by the human rights project “OVD-Info”* with reference to Sergey Kovalevich, an advocate of Irina Skorovarova.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on January 15, the advocate reported that the defence filed an appeal against the court’s decision to place Irina Skorovarova under house arrest. The woman is deprived of the opportunity to buy food for her 12-year-old daughter and medicine for her elderly grandmother, says the advocate.

On January 11, the police came to Irina Skorovarova’s apartment with a search in connection with the case on discrediting the Russian Armed Forces. On the other day, the court sent Irina Skorovarova under house arrest for two months. A video about a Russian military man posted on the Irina Skorovarova’s page in the “Odnoklassniki” social network became the reason for the criminal prosecution of Irina Skorovarova.

Let us remind you that a part of the article on discrediting the Russian Armed Forces under which the Irina Skorovarova’s case is instituted provides for up to five years of imprisonment.

In 2023, Irina Skorovarova was fined under the administrative article on discrediting the Russian Armed Forces for her post on the “Odnoklassniki” social network.
