Advocate expresses his concern over lack of information about Salekh Magamadov

For a month, there has been no information about the whereabouts of the Salekh Magamadov, a convicted native of Chechnya, his advocate Alexei Nemov reports.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on May 11, the Supreme Court (SC) of Chechnya refused to commute the punishment of Salekh Magamadov and his brother Ismail Isaev, who were convicted on the charge of aiding and abetting a militant. On June 7, it became known that the Magomadov and Isaev brothers were transferred from the Grozny SIZO (pre-trial prison). On July 1, it was reported that Salekh Magamadov was taken to the “Vladimirsky Central” prison, where he will spend one year, while his brother Ismail Isaev was brought to the Krasnodar SIZO. On July 15, the advocate was refused when he wanted to visit Salekh Magamadov, and warders said that the convict was not in prison. Alexei Nemov filed a complaint to the Federal Penitentiary Service (known as FSIN) for non-admission to the client.

The advocate has told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent that the lack of information about the Salekh Magamadov’s whereabouts causes great concern.

“The trip from Grozny to Vladimir takes a maximum of a week, and we don’t know where he is for a month already. This means that either he is being kept in some other penitentiary institution of the Federal Penitentiary Service, or the warders of the ‘Vladimirsky Central’ prison lie when they say they don’t have Salekh Magamadov at their penitentiary institution,” the advocate said.
