Rostov journalist Sergey Reznik suspected of posting fake news about Russian army

A criminal case under the article on the publication of false information about the Russian army is being investigated against Rostov journalist Sergey Reznik, the FSB Department for the Rostov Region reports.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that journalist Sergey Reznik has been put on the wanted list by the Centre for Combating Extremism in the Rostov Region. Sergey Reznik, who lives outside of Russia, suggests the reason of the above is his professional activities.

Sergey Reznik highlighted corrupt activities of a governor. Starting from November 2013, he was serving a term of imprisonment and was recognized as a political prisoner. The journalist was released from prison in 2016.

The press service of the FSB Department for the Rostov Region reported that on August 12, 2021, a criminal case was instituted against Sergey Reznik under the article on the rehabilitation of Nazism for desecrating the symbols of Russian military glory, insulting the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland, and justifying the regime of Nazi Germany.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported about a number of criminal cases against activists, journalists, and politicians instituted under the article on discrediting the Russian Armed Forces. So, on July 12, it became known about a case against Moscow MP Ilya Yashin, who sought the resignation of Ramzan Kadyrov. A case under the article on discrediting the Russian Armed Forces was also instituted against Ingush journalist Isabella Evloeva.
