Zarema Musaeva denies advocate's services

Zarema Musaeva's statement about her refusal from advocate's services was shown to the lawyers who had sought a meeting with her. Musaeva was under pressure, the "Committee against Torture" (CaT)* and her son Abubakar Yangulbaev are sure.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Mansur Soltaev, the Chechen Ombudsperson, posted a video report about his visit to Musaeva who is kept at the special detention centre; Soltaev stressed that she is under doctors' supervision and provided with all the medicines she needs.

However, Alexander Nemov, her advocate, has stated that law enforcers would not let the defence and Abubakar to visit Musaeva (Yangulbaeva) and provide false information about her whereabouts.

On Friday (January 28), a group of lawyers was not allowed into the detention centre to Zarema Musaeva under the pretext that she needs no advocate.

"The CaT* sees no reason why the woman who was forced to Chechnya and who has allegedly committed an offense decided to deny the advocate's services. We have repeatedly witnessed the cases when defendants were put under pressure," the CaT's Telegram channel has stressed.

Abubakar Yangulbaev is sure that his mother was forced to sign the refusal.
