Report about visit to Musaeva raises questions to Chechen Ombudsperson

Chechen Ombudsperson Mansur Soltaev posted on the Internet a video report about his visit to Zarema Musaeva kept in a special detention centre. The Ombudsperson emphasizes that the woman is under medical supervision and provided with medicines she needs. According to Abubakar Yangulbaev, a son of the arrested woman, authors of the video did not give the floor to Zarema Musaeva herself and did not explain why advocates were not allowed to visit her.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on January 26, Mansur Soltaev, Ombudsperson in Chechnya, said that he had inquired about the condition of Zarema Musaeva, who was kept in the special detention centre. The man, who introduced himself as a police officer, replied that Zarema Musaeva’s condition was satisfactory and that she did not complain about anything. Some Instagram users called the report of Mansur Soltaev a “performance.”

The Ombudsperson’s video aroused suspicion, not trust, emphasizes Abubakar Yangulbaev, a son of Zarema Musaeva.

Earlier, advocate Alexander Nemov has reported that law enforcers did not allow defenders to visit Zarema Musaeva and provided incorrect information about her whereabouts.

Let us remind you that on January 22, the leader of Chechnya called on the law enforcement bodies to detain and punish the entire Yangulbaev family or destroy them as accomplices of terrorists. The leader of Chechnya also stated that Zarema Musaeva’s sons should come to Chechnya for their mother. Analysts suggest that relatives of Zarema Musaeva are provoked to illegal actions so that there will be a reason to punish them.
