Supporters of Ingush protest leader expose banners in Moscow on his birthday

On April 19, Akhmed Barakhoev, one of the leaders of the protests in Ingushetia, arrested within the case of calls to unrests, turned 65. On this day, banners were hung out on the Kamenny Bridge in Moscow with congratulations to Barakhoev and an appeal for the resignation of the head of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Evkurov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 13, the arrests of the three Ingush protest leaders – Akhmed Barakhoev, Musa Malsagov and Barakh Chemurziev – expired. However, they were immediately arrested again, this time with the case of appeals to mass riots and violence allegedly applied against law enforcers. All the three were arrested for two months each.

During his first arrest, on April 4-13, Akhmed Barakhoev held a hunger strike with a demand to respect other people's rights.

The Telegram channel "Fortanga" has informed that on April 19, in central Moscow, a banner with congratulations to Barakhoev appeared.

Izabella Evloeva, an activist, has noted on her Facebook that Barakhoev, an elder, "enjoys enormous respect in the Ingush society." He has thousands of supporters, and they are waiting for his release, wrote Khava Khazbieva, another activist.

In the years of perestroika, Akhmed Barakhoev stood at the cradle of the Ingush Muftiate, which arose before the formation of the republic itself, Zurab Gadjiev has noted.
