Chechen blogger claims his wife forced to divorce him under pressure from authorities

Blogger Minkail Malizaev, who criticizes the authorities of Chechnya, reports his wife was forced to make a video appeal about a divorce because of the pressure on her in Chechnya.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 24, the wife of Minkail Malizaev, an active critic of the Ramzan Kadyrov's regime, who lived in Germany, disavowed her husband in her video appeal.

In April 2018, in a video posted on YouTube, Minkail Malizaev reported that he was beaten after calling on Chechens in Europe to hold rallies "against lawlessness in Chechnya." He also reported the deportation of his wife and children. Relatives of Minkail Malizaev called on the blogger to stop criticizing the authorities of Chechnya.

Minkail Malizaev stated that for many years he had been criticizing the authorities of Chechnya, and his relatives were persecuted for that and were being forced to publicly disavow him.

"However, no matter how hard it is, I will not give up and I will report about the evil in Chechnya," the blogger declared.

He posted a video in which his brother declared that he was ashamed to be a relative of Minkail Malizaev.

According to the blogger, for a long time his wife was demanded to voice "insults at his address." Minkail Malizaev also mentioned an attempt to kidnap him on March 27.

Some YouTube users supported the blogger, but others, on the contrary, criticized his actions. "There is no sense from your talk, only your poor relatives have suffered," wrote user I Will.
