Murder of entrepreneur in Chechnya reminds of blood feud custom

An employee of Chechen power agencies shot a businessman dead and came to surrender, a local law enforcement source had reported.

The incident occurred in the evening on February 12, the law enforcement source told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to the source, "the above employee shelled a car with a resident of Chechnya in it, who died from received wounds at hospital on the following day, February 13. The gunman came to surrender and was placed into custody. A criminal case has been initiated against him."

According to local residents, the murder was caused by blood feud, despite the regular assurances of the authorities that blood feudists get reconciled.

"The casualty was engaged in some business in Moscow; he was well known in Chechnya. Three years ago, he had a conflict with his acquaintance. The latter invited his to a 'settlement', and when the former arrived there, opened a pistol fire; the former guy killed him by response fire. Then, the acquaintance's family forgave the killer, admitting that their guy was the culprit of the quarrel. Now, his nephew, a law enforcer, shot the entrepreneur dead," a local resident named Khamzat has explained.
