Homes of leaders of "EcoWatch" searches under slander case

Investigators suspect Andrei Rudomakha and Dmitri Shevchenko, activists of the "Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus" (EcoWatch), of slandering Alexander Remezkov, the former vice-governor of Kuban (Krasnodar Territory). A criminal case has been opened against them.

Today, three residences of Rudomakha and Shevchenko were searched, said, the international human rights group "Agora" reports, referring to the advocate Alexander Popkov.

According to Mr Popkov, a criminal case was opened against Rudomakha and Shevchenko on the application of the above Alexander Remezkov, the "Yuga.ru" writes.

In August, Remezkov appealed to the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), accusing Rudomakha and Shevchenko of slander. According to his version, summer cottages in Tuapse and Dinskaya Districts of the Krasnodar Territory do not belong to him. The above activists of the "EcoWatch" claimed that both cottages belonged to Remezkov's sister, writes the "Rosbalt".

At elections on September 18 Remezkov was elected to the State Duma from the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" (Fair Russia) in the Tyumen Region.

  • Two natives of Northern Caucasus injured in shootout near “Wildberries” office in Moscow

    A shootout took place near an office of the “Wildberries” Company in the centre of Moscow. As a result, at least one person has been killed and several others have been wounded, sources report.   • In Volgograd, court recognizes absence of HIV therapy in prison hospital

    The Central District Court of Volgograd awarded prisoner Ruslan Mitrofan compensation in the amount of 1000 roubles, recognizing that the administration of a prison hospital in Volgograd violated the prisoner’s right to receive medical care by not providing him with an HIV medicine.
