Chief of Georgian Parliamentary Committee on Defence and Security treats Akhmed Chataev as secret service agent

Akhmed Chataev, who is suspected of the organization of the terror act at the Istanbul airport, used to be an agent of the Georgian secret services during the Mikhail Saakashvili's ruling. This was stated by Irakli Sesiashvili, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Defence and National Security of Georgia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 28, a terror act was committed at the Istanbul airport. As a result of three suicide bombings, more than 40 people were killed, and more than 200 others were injured. Akhmed Chataev, a native of Chechnya, was mentioned as the suspected organizer of the terror act.

Today, Irakli Sesiashvili, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Defence and National Security, a member of the "Georgian Dream" Party, has stated that "Akhmed Chataev used to be an agent of the Georgian secret services during the Mikhail Saakashvili's ruling as the President of Georgia."

"He had an operative passport of Georgian citizen, with which he travelled to different countries and performed operational tasks, and he received a salary for his activities," states Irakli Sesiashvili as quoted by the "Interfax".

A top-ranking source in the United States has noted that the Turkish authorities have already asked the United States to provide assistance in the search for Akhmed Chataev. The source also notes that according to the US intelligence agencies, "the triple terror act at the Istanbul airport was organized by Akhmed Chataev," reports "The Wall Street Journal" in its material published on July 2.
