Sochi Mayoralty predicts 100% loading of resort during summer season

Sochi will open its resort season in May 28 with a carnival procession. The Sochi City Tourism Office predicts that the entire hotel fund and the private sector will have enough tourists throughout the season. The growth in demand was affected by devaluation of the rouble, reduced tourist traffic abroad and the interest of Russians to the Olympic legacy, said the Mayoralty.

Officially, the resort season in Sochi will last until October 1. For the second year in a row, it will open with a carnival procession, Alexei Grachov, the Head of the Department for resort Business and Tourism of Sochi Administration, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

He added that according to the resolution of the Mayor Anatoly Pakhomov, bathing season in Sochi opens on June 1. Tourists, as a rule, come to the city for 5-7 days.

In total, according to estimates of the above Department, Sochi can simultaneously accommodate more than 200,000 tourists.

Mr Grachov noted the great interest of tourists to the Olympic Park, which "last year was visited by over a million holidaymakers." He added that the mountain cluster is also in demand in summer time.
