Shootout in Dagestan was preceded by power agents' raids

In the village of Nyutyug, Suleiman-Stalsky District of Dagestan, near which an armed clash occurred on February 17, explosions were heard, said a local resident. According to his story, on the same day power agents conducted passport checks. Today, the village lives its normal life.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the morning on February 17 the counter-terrorist operation (CTO) regime was introduced in the territory of the Tabasaran, Suleiman-Stalsky and Khiv Districts of Dagestan. In the evening, the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) said that special agents of the Russian FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) had found, to the north of the village of Nyutyug, two militants, who opened fire in response to the agents' attempt to detain them and were killed by return fire.

According to a resident of Nyutyug, early in the morning on February 17, the village was invaded by a large number of soldiers.

"They came into every house, checked residents' passports and recorded telephone numbers. They behaved quite adequately. All this continued until 9 a.m. Then, they left," the man told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

For the whole day on February 17, as he said, gunfire and explosions were heard in the village.

Today, he added, "the situation is calm, shots are not heard" and "village lives as usual, children go to school."

Locals do not know who was killed in the armed clash.
