"Interfax": Ruslan Geremeev involved in case of Boris Nemtsov's murder as suspect

The law enforcement bodies are verifying Ruslan Geremeev, a former officer of the Chechen battalion "Sever" (North), for involvement in the murder of politician Boris Nemtsov, the "Interfax" reports with reference to a source familiar with the situation.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 9, the "Kommersant" reported with reference to its sources that in the case of the murder of Boris Nemtsov, investigators instructed operative staff members to find Ruslan Geremeev for questioning as a witness. However, Ruslan Geremeev left Russia, the "Rosbalt" reports with reference to a source in the law enforcement bodies.

"Thus, he can get a status of a suspect," explained the source familiar with the situation.

The source has also clarified that the status of suspect allows investigators to take measures to detain Ruslan Geremeev, interrogate him and choose a pre-trial restriction measure prior to formal indictment. Thus, Ruslan Geremeev became the sixth defendant in the case of the murder of Boris Nemtsov.
