Brother of Ekazhevo resident, detained by law enforcers, reports torture and beatings (+video)

Magomed Aushev, a resident of the Ingush village of Ekazhevo, Nazran District, detained by policemen, was tortured and beaten, his brother Murad Aushev reported today.

Murad Aushev has turned with the information about his brother's torture to the Nazran office of the HRC "Memorial". He told rights defenders that on December 20 his brother Magomed voluntarily came to the MIA Division for the Nazran District in order to hand away his traumatic pistol and write an explanation about his shooting out of a car that moved in Ekazhevo as part of a wedding cortege.

According to Murad Aushev, together with his brother the police division was visited by two witnesses – participants of the wedding celebration. Under threat of violence and falsification of criminal cases, they were forced to slander Magomed, Murad told the HRC "Memorial" branch.

"Magomed was detained; and on December 22 he was placed into custody. His relatives saw Magomed at the Nazran court, which elected his freedom restraint measure. His body had signs of torture, beatings and injuries. At the court session Magomed lost consciousness; and an ambulance was called to him. Now he is in the Republic's Clinical Hospital in Nazran," says the release of the HRC "Memorial" received today by the "Caucasian Knot".
