Three cases of babies’ death in the maternity hospital are under investigation in Pyatigorsk

Committee of Inquiry initiated three criminal cases of newborn babies’ death in the maternity hospital of Pyatigorsk.

Earlier, the “Caucasian Knot” reported that in April the Committee initiated a pre-investigation inspection concerning the news of seven cases of babies’ death in the maternity hospital of Pyatigorsk. According to the patients, the physicians dragged out delivery injecting them medications that delayed birth pangs demanding money from the women.

The Ministry of Public Health of Stavropol region disclaimed this information pointing out that in 2011 out of 3 312 deliveries in the maternity hospital of Pyatigorsk 19 cases of dead birth and 9 cases of babies’ death within the first seven days of their lives were registered. Each of the 28 cases was studied thoroughly and all of them were acknowledged unavoidable, RIA “Novosti” referring to First Deputy Minister of Public Health Konstantin Khurtsev reported.

There was one more appeal to Chairman of Committee of Inquiry Alexander Bastrykin in a telephone talk on November, 18, to verify the information of the deaths in Pyatigorsk maternity hospital and Bastrykin ordered to carry out an inspection, web-site of Committee of Inquiry reports.

Three criminal cases were initiated upon the results of the inspection: cases of death of two boys and a girl in 2011, the Committee reports.

The personnel of the maternity hospital deny their guilt for the babies’ death, TV channel “Russia-1” reports.
