Defendants in Kondopoga disorders case refuse to plead guilty

Today, the Supreme Court of Karelia has announced the indictment on the criminal case about the fight in the Karelian city of Kondopoga on August 30, 2006, which resulted in mass disorders. The defendants, natives of Chechnya and Dagestan, refused to plead guilty.

The Court, presided by Judge of the Supreme Court of Karelia Alexander Zaitsev, started considering this criminal case on the merits on July 21.

The spokesman of the court said that the state prosecution on the case announced the indictment against defendants Magomed Akhmadov, Aslanbek Bakanaev, Magomed Kamilov, Gerikhan Magomadov, Islam Magomadov and Said-Magomed Edilsultanov.

They are accused under Article 213 of the Criminal Code ("Committing hooligan actions"), Article 112 ("Deliberate harm to one's health"), and Article 111 ("Causing heavy harm to one's health"). Besides, defendant Islam Magomadov is accused under Article 105 ("Murder of two and more persons").

The ITAR-TASS reports that after announcement of the indictment all the six defendants rejected the charges and refused to admit their guilt.
