In Tbilisi, protesters spoil Ivanishvili’s celebration with black balloons
In Tbilisi, a protest action was dedicated to the Bidzina Ivanishvili’s birthday. Participants of the protest action brought black balloons with wishes for the birthday and released them into the sky. The protesters also burned a stuffed chicken with the image of the head of the special forces Zviad Kharazishvili.
The protest action held on February 18 was timed to coincide with the birthday of Bidzina Ivanishvili, the honorary chairman of the “Georgian Dream” Party. The protestors brought symbolic black balloons on which they wrote their wishes for the birthday and released them into the sky.
Lawyer Guro Imnadze claims that protest actions are necessary for the country to return to a democratic course, since the European Parliament does not recognize the legitimacy of the self-recognized government of the “Georgian Dream” Party.
Tamta Mikeladze, the director of the “Centre for Social Justice” NGO, wrote an address on social networking services on the occasion of the Bidzina Ivanishvili’s birthday. In her address, Tamta Mikeladze has called the Bidzina Ivanishvili’s ruling “a classic rule of an oligarchic regime, characterized by extreme personalization of the political system.” “In his world, there is only the need to maintain power, wealth, and security," Tamta Mikeladze emphasized.
