Women's Charitable Hospital in Dagestan to move out till the end of the year

The Women's Charitable Hospital, situated in the capital of Dagestan, received an order from the division of court marshals of the Sovietskiy District of Makhachkala on initiation of executive proceedings, according to which the Hospital shall abandon all the occupied premises before December 30, 2008.

In October 2008, the Federal Arbitration Court of the North-Caucasian District upheld the decision of the Arbitration Court of the Republic of Dagestan on banishment of the Public Foundation "Women's Charitable Hospital" out of the premises in the centre of Makhachkala.

Aishat Magomedova, Director of the Charitable Hospital, is herself now at medical treatment after the nervous stress she had suffered during the litigations on the Hospital's premises. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent went to have a talk with the personnel of the hospital and its patients.

"Court marshal Guseinov came to us and served an order that we must leave the building before December 30," said Senior Nurse Nina Baranova. "Where to go and what to do - we don't know. However, the court marshal spoke very politely and warned that if we failed to move out before the deadline, the Hospital would be fined by five thousand roubles."

According to Ms Baranova, during the recent months the Hospital "was buggered" with all possible audits and checks, which, according to Senior Nurse, could cause the disease of Director of the Hospital Aishat Magomedova.

"The Chief Therapist of the Republic's Ministry of Public Health once came," Nina Baranova said. "He checked everything, but failed to find any violations; finally, he said, 'I'll catch you all the same.'"

A source in the government of Dagestan informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent in a private conversation that the decision had been lobbied by building companies who want to get a land plot in the centre of Makhachkala for their construction. The land in very expensive there, huge money is at stake, and nobody cares about the free-of-charge hospital, which brings no revenues."
