Rudomakha: participation of State Duma in "ecologization" of Sochi Olympiad will be helpful, if they pass over from words to actions

Participation of such serious agencies like the Committee for Natural Resources, Nature Management and Ecology of the State Duma of the Russian Federation in the process of "ecologization" of Olympiad-2014 can become useful, since not only the public should be anxious of all this, believes Andrei Rudomakha, coordinator of the Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus.

At the same time, in his interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent the ecologist has noted: "So far, on September 26 in Sochi only words were pronounced at the roundtable. It gave no practical effect. These words are mainly perceived just as PR."
The ecologist said that recognition by Natalia Komarova, chair of the Committee of Russian State Duma, of serious problems was unexpectedness for him. Moreover, she represented the Party in power "Yedinaya Rossiya" (United Russia).

In the opinion of the ecologist, the roundtable was organized in a little bit strange manner. Representatives of the ecological community were not given the floor; they were present just as observers. Therefore, the whole spectrum of problems could not be presented.

According to the head of the Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus, it is also unclear what the mechanism will be of positive influence on the "ecologization" process by this Committee of the State Duma. "We hope," he said, "that this mechanism will be found. But, unfortunately, now the State Duma plays no role in these processes."
