35 terror acts accomplished in SFD last year
In 2007, 630 crimes of terrorist nature were committed in the South Federal District (SFD) - 83 percent of the total number committed all over Russia. A total of 35 terror acts were registered in the south of Russia. The figures were made public today by Ivan Sydoruk, Deputy General Public Prosecutor of the Russian Federation.
"From making terror acts against peaceful residents, the underground militants have switched over to encroachments on the life of employees of law enforcement bodies and power agencies," Mr Sydoruk said.
"Sydoruk: militants received $1.5 million on destabilization of the situation in Northern Caucasus," "Patrushev: 21 terror act accomplished in Russia during the first half of this year."
