Young activist of the "Gnchak" opposition party beaten in Armenia

In Armenia, in the morning on November 15, unknown persons violently took Narek Galstyan, leader of the youth organization "Sarkis Tkhruni" of the "Gnchak" Social-Democratic Party, out of a taxi and severely beat him.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about the incident at the "Gnchak" Party office.

Currently, Narek Galstyan is in the resuscitation ward of the "Nor Nork" first-aid hospital. According to the doctors, the young man has lost a lot of blood.

Let us note here that, according to some data received by the correspondent from oppositional sources, on November 14 Mr Galstyan was detained by the police when he was sticking about leaflets notifying the population about the meeting on November 16 with participation of the first Armenian President Ter-Petrosyan. After a talk at the police station, Galstyan was released.

Making comments on what has happened, Ovanes Ovannisyan, Chairman of the Liberal-Progressive Party of Armenia, has stated to journalists that the authorities, as usual, continue to obstruct the forthcoming meeting. To do so, they make use of their administrative and power resources, as well as "yard criminal leaders".
