Defendants in Makhachkala riot case complain of beatings
Magomedgadji Chirgilaev and Yasin Gadjiev, figurants in the case of the riots at Makhachkala Airport, have reported that they had been beaten up to force them to incriminate themselves.
The policemen who were present at the Makhachkala Airport failed to identify Chirgilaev and Gadjiev, Biysoltan Kaparov, an advocate, has stated. According to his story, Chirgilaev and Gadjiev went to the airport out of curiosity just to see what was going on there.
"They claim that after detention they were forced to say that they had allegedly threw stones at the airport ... They put bags on their heads and threw them on the concrete floor," the advocate has added.
In September 2024, the case of five residents of Dagestan (Ramazan Abdullabekov, Ismail Amirov, Yasin Gadjiev, Magomedali Omarov and Magomedgadji Chirgilaev) began to be considered by a court in Stavropol. All the five defendants refused to admit their guilt.
Let us remind you that according to investigators, on October 29, 2023, Abdullabekov, Amirov, Gadjiev, Omarov and Chirgilaev, "while at the Uytash Airport, on the basis of national and religious hatred and enmity towards Israeli citizens, refusing to comply with law enforcers’ legal demands, took part in mass riots accompanied by violence and destruction of property."
According to investigators, by January 16, criminal cases against 135 people accused of taking part in the riots at the Makhachkala Airport had been sent to courts. Seven other people, including three alleged organizers of the riots, have been declared wanted.
