Native of Dagestan blames law enforcers of torture

Magomed Magomedov, a native of Dagestan, who lives in Moscow, has claimed that he was tortured after being detained on suspicion of upgrading weapons.

"He is accused of converting a traumatic pistol into a combat one," Mikhail Mushailov, an advocate, has explained.

Magomedov said that he was tortured at some security agency. "He was tortured by using a mop, which was inserted into his anus ... There are also traces of numerous electric shocks," the advocate has clarified.

Magomedov himself said that some of these actions were recorded by law enforcers to a phone camera, threatening that the same could be done with his relatives; and should he about what happened to anyone, they would burn down the house of his parents and brother.

The law firm "Mushailov, Uzdenskiy, Rybakov and Partners" has stated in its Telegram channel that information about the detainee was carefully concealed by law enforcers. Only after this story was made public, did law enforcement bodies begin showing interest in the advocates' statements.

Mushailov has added that Magomedov had never had any problems with the law. "The reason for his detention was the suspicion that he had converted a traumatic pistol into a combat one. The fact is that he is engaged in buying, collecting and selling blank-firing weapons. Blank-firing or deactivated weapons are former combat weapons that, due to modifications made, lose the ability to fire. No permits are required for this; it is not prohibited by the law. Law enforcers apparently thought that he was converting weapons, broke into his apartment, found nothing, demanded the password to his phone, but he did not give it, and decided to detain him," Mikhail Mushailov has stated.

"He [Magomedov] is a man with incredible willpower; he withstood all the torture without signing a single false document or without self-incrimination," Sergey Uzdenskiy, another advocate, has added.
