Five more participants of riots at Makhachkala airport sentenced to imprisonment

Five residents of Dagestan have been sentenced to terms of imprisonment ranging from 8 years 6 months to 8 years 8 months in a penal colony in a case on the riots at an airport in Makhachkala.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that criminal cases on the riots at the airport in Makhachkala are being considered by courts of the Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories. On December 3, the Stavropol Territorial Court began considering a case against four defendants, including Asker Budaikhanov, Gadji Imanmurzaev, Patimat Sharudinova, and Devletkhan Ramazanov, whom investigators considered the organizers of the riots. At the same time, there is no evidence in the video recordings from the Makhachkala airport that the defendants coordinated the actions of the people who gathered there. On December 18, the court in Stavropol began considering a case against Magomed Sagitov, Abdulvagab Salamov, and Gusen Sharipov, whom investigators consider participants of the riots at the Makhachkala airport.

On December 16, the Novokubansky District Court sentenced six defendants in the case on the riots at the Makhachkala airport to terms of imprisonment ranging from seven to eight years. On December 11, courts in the Stavropol Territory sentenced ten residents of Dagestan to lengthy terms of imprisonment in two cases on the riots at the airport in Makhachkala.

The Izobilnensky District Court in the Stavropol Territory found five residents of Dagestan guilty in the case on the riots at the Makhachkala airport, the Stavropol Territorial Prosecutor’s Office reported on its official website.

Eldar Djayakaev, Salim Djangishiev, Zagir Djankhuvatov, Abakar Djabrailov, and Daniyal Nurmagomedov have been sentenced to terms of imprisonment ranging from 8 years 6 months to 8 years 8 months.

The Stavropol Territorial Prosecutor’s Office reports that on October 29, 2023, at the “Uytash” airport in Makhachkala, the defendants, being motivated by hostility towards citizens of Israel, refused to comply with the law enforcers’ lawful demands and took part in the riots accompanied by violence and destruction of property.

In total, 134 people will be brought to trial in the case on the riots at the airport in Makhachkala.

Let us remind you that relatives of the people accused and convicted in the case on riots at the Makhachkala airport intended to ask for help from Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, but were unable to get an appointment with him. At a meeting with the Dagestani Ombudsperson, the relatives wrote a letter to Sergey Melikov and threatened to hold protest actions if receiving no response.
