Zarema Musaeva, who is being kept at a SIZO (pre-trial prison) in Grozny, has experienced worsening knee pain.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the Supreme Court (SC) of Chechnya refused to grant the defence’s complaint against the pre-trial restriction measure with respect to Zarema Musaeva in a new criminal case. Human rights defenders noted that an advocatewas notified of a court hearing an hour and a half before it began.
On November 11, 2024, it became known that a new criminal case had been instituted against Zarema Musaeva. According to the investigators’ version, the woman attacked a penal colony warder who was accompanying her to a hospital for medical treatment.
Advocate Alexander Savin reports that at the SIZO, Zarema Musaeva experiences worsening knee pain. So far, it has been relieved with painkillers.
Let us remind you that Zarema Musaeva faces up to five years of imprisonment in the case on disrupting the operation of the penalcolony. Sergey Babinets, the head of the “Team against Torture”(TaT), suggests that the new criminal case against Zarema Musaeva is connected with an entry posted by one of her sons on a social networking service**.
At the SIZO, Zarema Musaeva walks using crutches, and she is not taken to a hospital. The woman suffers from pain in her legs, but she does not receive medical treatment in the hospital.
*The “Team against Torture” (TaT, formerly the “Committee against Torture” – CaT) was created by the lawyers who had earlier worked for the CaT, which was included into the register of the NCOs performing the functions of foreign agents.
