Stavropol Territory: SMO fighter sentenced leniently for murder threat and robbery

The Izobilnensky District Court has sentenced Vasily Pogrebitsky, a former participant in the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine, to 1.5 years of conditional imprisonment, finding him guilty of threatening to kill and robbery.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that courts in the regions of Southern Russia have repeatedly handed down lenient sentences to those militaries, who took part in the SMO, regarding this fact as a mitigating circumstance. In particular, on August 10, a court in Yessentuki sentenced local resident Sergey Chudentsov to three years of conditional imprisonment for causing grave bodily harm, treating his participation in the SMO in Ukraine as a mitigating circumstance.

According to investigators, Vasily Pogrebitsky was drinking alcohol with his friend in the entrance of a building. They asked one of the tenants for cigarettes, after which a conflict broke out. Pogrebitsky threatened the tenant with a knife, swung it at him and said: "I'm going to kill you now."

Also, according to the case materials, Pogrebitsky had committed a robbery – he stole foodstuffs worth 3893 roubles from a store.

The court has treated Pogrebitsky's participation in the SMO and his promise to return there as mitigating circumstances.
