Sochi resident fined for insulting Russian President

A court in Sochi has fined Valery Musarin, a local resident, by 30,000 roubles for his post placed in a social network that was treated as offensive to the Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The reason for drawing up the protocol was the post that the man placed in the "Odnoklassniki" social network.

According to the court, Musarin posted in the public domain an article by Thomas Friedman, The New York Times columnist, the title of which contained an insult to the Russian President. A linguistic study was conducted, which proved that the insult really did exist. Musarin himself admitted his guilt and repented of his actions.
