Pensioner from Astrakhan sentenced for pacifist statements

Yuri Strubalin, a pensioner, has been sentenced to three years of restricted freedom for his pacifist inscriptions on walls of houses.

According to investigators, Strubalin used a marker to write his pacifist statements on facades of several houses recognized as architectural monuments and made photos of these inscriptions.

Law enforcers found Strubalin by means of CCTV cameras and opened a case against him for vandalism motivated by political hatred, the "OVD-Info"* project has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that in December 2023, a court in the Akhtubinsky District fined Vitaly Zhuravlyov, a local resident, under the article on discrediting the Russian Army. The reason was in his post placed in the "VKontakte" social network with a photo of President Putin and criticizing Russians.
