Journalist Zalina Marshenkulova* put on terrorist list

The “Rosfinmonitoring” (Russian Federal Service for Financial Monitoring) has put journalist Zalina Marshenkulova* from Kabardino-Balkaria, accused of justifying terrorism, on the list of terrorists and extremists.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on April 17, it became known that Zalina Marshenkulova* was put on the federal wanted list. The journalist filed an appeal against the arrest in absentia in the case on justifying terrorism, but the Moscow City Court upheld the verdict. On August 6, it became known that Zalina Marshenkulova* was on the international wanted list, and on September 6, the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) added Zalina Marshenkulova* to the register of foreign agents.

Sources reported that the reason for the criminal case was the statements of Zalina Marshenkulova* about the death of blogger Vladlen Tatarsky in an explosion in Saint Petersburg on April 2, 2023. However, according to the investigators’ version, Zalina Marshenkulova* posted on Telegram the entries about justifying terrorism no later than March 3, 2023, a month before Vladlen Tatarsky’s death. Zalina Marshenkulova* now lives in Germany, the TASS notes.

*Included by the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) into the register of foreign agents.
