Defence secures questioning of forensic expert in case on murder of 19-year-old Sultanov in Dagestan

A forensic expert, invited by the defence of the family of Magomed-Ali Sultanov, a murdered resident of Kayakent, called the forensic examination, conducted the investigator’s order, insufficient. According to the forensic expert’s version, at least three wounds were inflicted with a screwdriver. It was the fourth request after which the court agreed to question the expert brought in by the defence.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on May 30, the forensic expert from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky admitted in court that in his conclusion, he did not describe all the wounds on the Magomed-Ali Sultanov’s body. In connection with the above fact, the criminal case should be sent for additional investigation, an advocate states. The violation committed by the forensic expert casts doubt on the reliability of the entire examination, lawyers confirm.

There is only one defendant in the criminal case on the murder of Magomed-Ali Sultanov, a 19-year-old resident of Kayakent. The lawyer for the Magomed-Ali Sultanov’s family demands to bring to justice two more participants in a fight and reclassify the charge to the article on murder by prior conspiracy. In court, the forensic expert confirmed that the body of the deceased young man bore traces of wounds from two murder weapons. The lawyer emphasizes that if the court finds there were two criminals, this will be grounds for returning the criminal case for further investigation.

At the court hearing on the case on the Magomed-Ali Sultanov’s murder, lawyer Ilyas Saidov, representing the interests of the deceased young man’s family, had filed three requests in vain, until he succeeded in seeking the court to question the expert he had invited.

According to the investigators’ version, on November 10, 2022, in the village of Usemikent not fat from Kayakent, the defendant stabbed Magomed-Ali Sultanov multiple times. Investigators suggest that there was only one attacker, but the released video showed that four people were involved in the fight.

Let us remind you that on November 24, 2022, the relatives of the deceased young man held a meeting, stating that the attackers were trying to avoid punishment. One of the residents of Kayakent claimed that relatives of the attackers tried to bribe the parents of the deceased young man’s friend so that he would not identify anyone.
