The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that a total of 13 policemen have been charged within the case of Dalgatov's death; they are accused of abuse of power with grave consequences and torture resulting in the victim's death. None of them has pleaded guilty; they are all trying to evade responsibility, the advocate for the victim's family and Kurban's mother have stated.

Kurban Dalgatov died in January 2023 after being taken to the Makhachkala police division. His relatives have stated that he died after an "electric shock to his heart."

According to investigators, in January 2023, the case figurants used violence against two citizens who were taken to the police division, and tortured the third one, after which the man died.
