Journalist Kevorkova included into list of terrorists and extremists

The "Rosfinmonitoring" (Russian Federal Financial Monitoring Service) has included Nadezhda Kevorkova, a journalist who was arrested on charges of justifying terrorism, into the list of terrorists and extremists.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 7, the Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested the 65-year-old Kevorkova, accused of justifying terrorism, for two months. She refused to admit her guilt.

The text by Orkhan Djemal, the posting of which became the reason for accusing Nadezhda, had not been declared illegal earlier. The arguments that the Kevorkova's post in her Telegram channel was accessible to a broad audience have nothing to do with reality, her advocate has emphasized. Kevorkova's post about the events in Nalchik in 2005 concerned the torture to which detainees were subjected and irritated law enforcers, while "she has never supported terror in any form," Maxim Shevchenko, a journalist and Kevorkova's ex-husband, has stated.

The reason for bringing the charges was in the repost of the text from 2010 by journalist Djemal about the attack on Nalchik and the material about the "Taliban"* movement. In the text, Orkhan Djemal talked about his acquaintance with Anzor Astemirov and authorities drawbacks that had led to discontent among Muslims.

*By the Russian Supreme Court the movement has been recognized to be a terrorist organization.
