Three fines imposed on Stavropol resident for discrediting Russian Army upheld

In the Stavropol Territory, the appellate instance has upheld three rulings on the fines imposed on Vitaly Fedorenko, who was found guilty of discrediting the Russian Army.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in March, the court imposed fines totalling 180,000 roubles on six administrative cases of discrediting the Russian Army to Vitaly Fedorenko, a resident of the town of Mikhailovsk. Fedorenko said that in some posts placed by him in social networks, which the court had treated as discrediting, he called for honourable burial of the soldiers who perished in Ukraine. He considered the court's position biased and promised to appeal against the rulings.

Fedorenko's complaints indicate that he was deprived of the right to defence, since before the trials he was unaware of what exactly his post in the social network would be the basis for the trial.

He has also emphasized that he did not create his posts as discrediting the soldiers of the Ministry of Defence, but, on the contrary, "he tried to emphasize the importance of respectful attitude towards them."
